Why you should watch...Ice Age

I'll admit, I really enjoyed the first Ice Age movie, and the second one was not too bad. I have to say that is definitely a character driven movie in that the enjoyment of watching these movies comes directly from watching characters, we have grown to care about, go through another, adventure together.

And from the title of the movie, it is obvious that a set of new characters will be added to the continuing Ice Age Saga.

This movie is opening against Public Enemies, a movie that I do want to see, but it has been my experience that these types of movies (historical bio-pics) are better enjoyed on DVD where you fully meditate on the events being portrayed without major distractions.

Why you should watch...Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

There are three huge reasons why I'm watching Transformers 2 this week.

One; it's directed by the Legendary Micheal Bay.
Two; It stars the Incredible Megan Fox.
Three; Huge budget special effects.

Micheal Bay has directed some of the best action movies I have ever seen ( Armageddon, The Rock) and I was very impressed with the magnitude of the First Transformers movie.

I also believe that in the first movie, we were witness to the Birth of the Movie Mega Star status of Megan Fox.

Just like with Year One where we would all go see it, not so much for the movie itself, but to get a kick out of Jack Black's brand of Comedy. I, of course, am not expecting this to be the next Batman; Dark Knight, but I am expecting a non-stop thrill ride, and I'm sure that Micheal Bay, will once again, not disappoint.

Why you should watch...Year One

Yes, it's true, Jack Black has been in some pretty bad movies, but it's also true that no matter how bad his movies may be, they always have several "laugh-out-loud" scenes, and that's why we go see Jack Black movies.

He'll probably never win an Oscar, and that's okay. We like Jack Black and his movies, not because they're well written, well directed or full of incredible performances, we go see them because they're funny and we feel like laughing, and JB rarely fails at making anyone laugh.

Why You Should Watch...Land of the Lost

I won't know of course until I actually see the movie, but judging by the trailers, this movie looks like it will do what a lot of movies this summer have not been able to do;... stick to the source material.

There are almost no new ideas this summer. All the blockbusters are either based on old TV shows, movies or books.

The problem with most is that they (production companies) are trying to make the next 'Batman: Dark Knight', by taking an idea that started as fun and simple and making it "super serious".

Land of the Lost is based on an old Saturday morning TV Show. That being the case, I really don't understand why it's PG-13, but other than that, Land of the Lost does seem like it's gonna have fun with Time Travel, and not lean towards a serious-grounded in reality remake of something that only works with just the right amount of goofiness.
